Exact dynamics and reconstruction

These notes concern a contraction map, its exact integer/rational representation, ordered Euclidean remainders, and reconstruction. Mathematical identities are distinct from finite implementation tests.

Object
A nonnegative integer is multiplied by the fixed rational Q/S and rounded downward.
Result
The next integer and the ordered remainder determine the previous integer by Qd = Sd′ + ρ.
Example
Seed 399 gives 135 and remainder 639958766566422. Import the record with the seed textbox empty to recover 399.

Q/S is the rational map. The real parameter λ is a different number; their floor agreement has a stated domain.

The 600-cell page is a different object: it evolves 120 vertex-indexed signals. 600-cell signal network.

On the 15-bit domain D15={0,…,32767}D_{15}=\{0,\ldots,32767\}, the maps d↦⌊λd⌋d\mapsto\lfloor\lambda d\rfloor and d↦⌊(Q/S)d⌋d\mapsto\lfloor(Q/S)d\rfloor agree. They first disagree at d∗=42189065d^{\ast}=42189065. That boundary is a finite exact fact, not a proof that the maps coincide on all nonnegative integers.

Q/S=339949771344778/1015Q/S=339949771344778/10^{15}, reduced 1699748856723895×1014\frac{169974885672389}{5\times 10^{14}}. This rational is a machine surrogate for λ\lambda, not equal to it.

Binary64 λ ≈ 0.339949771344779. Distinct from the rational surrogate q = Q/S. Centered geometric homothety: displacement from 1 is multiplied by λ at each step.

On 0≤d≤327670\le d\le 32767, ⌊λd⌋=⌊Qd/S⌋\lfloor\lambda d\rfloor=\bigl\lfloor Qd/S\bigr\rfloor. λ\lambda is the real contraction parameter; qq is the rational surrogate. They are not the same number.

Worked reconstruction

Example trajectory 399→135→45→15→5→1→0399\to 135\to 45\to 15\to 5\to 1\to 0. The first step satisfies Q⋅399=S⋅135+639958766566422Q\cdot 399=S\cdot 135+639958766566422, so 399=(S⋅135+639958766566422)/Q399=(S\cdot 135+639958766566422)/Q. Reverse uses only the displayed prefix: the last shown quotient as terminal, and the shown remainders. A malformed remainder fails a named condition and does not reconstruct.

Reverse from the displayed prefix (terminal 0, 6 remainders) recovers 399 — matches the seed.

Malformed remainder

Reverse of the displayed prefix uses the remainder at step 0. Replace it with a non-canonical value to see the named failure. Canonical first remainder for this seed: 639958766566422.

Terminal state plus ordered remainders reconstructs the recorded trajectory. On the canonical domain the first remainder already identifies the seed. Extinction occurs in at most ten transitions; a 23-step record includes padding after extinction. Load 399 restores the six-step example and clears any remainder override. Invalid remainder text is a remainder-format failure; an integer remainder ≥ S is a remainder-bound failure. Neither case reconstructs.
